Exciting Announcement: Book Launch for Saved by a Woman: A Second Memoir
Hi there!
It’s been an exciting week! I’m happy to announce the forthcoming Book Launch, which will include live music, readings, an interview and Q&A, and to invite you to attend. It’s a year since I started this Substack and I love it. And I’ve been working with musical collaborator Paul Hulm on an instrumental accompaniment to a significant poem I wrote.
Join Us at the Book Launch
You are cordially invited to attend the Book Launch of Saved by a Woman: A Second Memoir, by Joe Armstrong, the latest instalment in my acclaimed memoir series Losing Religion, Finding Myself.
Date & Time: Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 8:00 PM GMT
Join us on Zoom for an evening filled with live music by The Rayne and Andrea Patron, captivating readings from the new book, an insightful interview with the author conducted by Eamon Murphy, and an interactive Q&A session with the online audience.
To reserve your spot at the Book Launch, please pre-register using the following link: https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZIvcOyqqz8rGt3ANtFQLhrtzuHzJ8Rn9LIG
Among other songs sung live at the book launch, The Rayne will premiere a new song, ‘So Glad I Married You’ that he, Andrea and I have been working on.
We look forward to your presence at this special event celebrating the power of the human search for meaning and personal growth.
Musical Collaboration with Paul Hulm
I was privileged to spend much of last Wednesday with Paul Hulm recording a new version of my poem We Are Leaves. Paul is an extraordinary instrumentalist and it was astonishing for me to watch him picking notes from thin air that fitted each moment of the poem which celebrates the gifts and insights the bereaved receive from the departed.
At Paul’s suggestion, in this new recording, I narrate the words, while he accompanies my rendition with his magical guitar. I felt moved listening back to the audio of our work together last Wednesday. Hopefully it, too, will be released shortly.
Celebrating One Year of Joe the Human Substack (https://joearmstrong.substack.com)
It’s a year since I started this Joe the Human Substack. I love it. I just threw myself into it, started doing it and I’ve been learning as I go along how it works. The Substack platform is made for writers and it’s so easy to use.
Recently, I’ve tweaked the theme of my Substack website and I’m proud of it. It looks good! When you scroll down, you can see all 52 episodes I’ve written. And the links to me on social media are up to date.
I’ve also tweaked the subscription page, now that I understand it better; and I’m grateful that Substack allows this, rather than enforcing a two-tier system. Everyone on my Substack has access to all posts, podcasts, the entire archive, and can comment and join the conversation, regardless of subscriber status. That aligns with my values.
Free Subscription Benefits (https://joearmstrong.substack.com)
You will:

Joe
