When Gill Met Joe, Part 1

An Embarrassing Letter, A Life Decision Reversed, and Breaching the Head/Gut Divide

Gill Bell, a Humanist Celebrant and Biodynamic Psychotherapist, is Convenor of North West Humanists in Ireland. She invited me to be guest speaker at their meeting on 3 March in Sligo.

Gill interviewed me, and I read from both memoirs, and there were interesting contributions from the audience. She arranged for a video to be made of the event. This latest Joe the Human Podcast is the first half of the gathering, in which I read an embarrassing letter I wrote when I was 17. I also read the episode from my first memoir when I decided to leave my priestly path, but I bottled out of it, swayed by the opinions of others.

And I read the key turning point in my life, after which nobody would ever be able to make me go against me honest judgement again. It was the moment that breached the inner divide between head and gut. My Berlin Wall came tumbling down.

I’ll upload the second half of the event soon. Meanwhile, if you can’t wait, you can watch the video of the whole event, and the video of the first half and of the second half on YouTube.

Happy days,

Joe
